ABOUT AMIRALI
It was early 2012 that ripples of hype started to reverberate around an unknown artist by the name of Amirali. His track ‘Beautiful World’, released on Crosstown Rebels was as unique as it was catchy. The electronic music community waited with baited breathe for news of what was next from the mysterious Iranian/Canadian newcomer.
They didn’t have to wait long as news broke that Damian Lazarus had signed Amirali for an album deal on Crosstown Rebels, and in July of that year his ‘In Time’ LP was released to critical acclaim. Clash magazine shortlisted it for album of the year, Metro newspaper named ‘My Way’ their track of the year, whilst Resident Advisor pronounced it "an example of perfect craftsmanship". The album transcended genres and won an army of fans around the globe.
What followed was a grueling an fruitful touring schedule which saw Amirali bring his live show to every corner of the globe. What made his performance so special was his live vocals and keys, which stunned and captivated his audiences at some of the worlds most prestigious music venues such as: Panorama Bar Berlin, Fabric London, Warehouse Project Manchester, Cityfox Zurich, Arma17 Moscow, Café D’anvers Antwerp, Showcase Paris, Lux Lisbon, Creamfields Lima, D-Edge & Warung Brazil, Verboten New York, The Exchange LA, Treehouse Miami and many more.
Not one to stand still, 2013 saw Amirali continue to astound his fans with killer remixes for the likes of Bpitch Control, My Favorite Robot & Distiller Records. He also released brand new music in the form of ‘Melancholia EP’ on Crosstown Rebels, which received widespread support from Radio1, culminating in him being invited to perform live at the very first video broadcast of the highly coveted BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix from the world famous BBC Live Lounge. The performance was watched and listened to by millions of music fans around the world.
Major plans are already afoot for 2014 for Amirali. He is preparing to launch his own record label this summer, which promises to be an extension of his broad musical palette. He is also working hard in the studio to complete his 2nd studio album for Crosstown Rebels. Although retaining his unique sound, this album looks set to be a departure from his debut, he has assembled a live band to record and perform the album with, thus adding yet another dimension to this already multi faceted act. As a result Amirali has cut back on his live performances ahead of the band launch and has rekindled a love for djing, something he has been doing for over 15 years.
