ALEX GAUDINO
Having found acclaimed European success with recent hits 'Destination Calabria' and 'Watch Out', Alex has rapidly built up a reputation as 'One of the most prolific producers in Italy', or at least those are the words of BBC Radio 1's Pete Tong.
With a unique sound of fashionably cool house music, Alex's touring schedule has become as illustrious as his studio projects from rubbing shoulders with Chelsea's golden emperor Roman Abramovich in Moscow, to being picked to perform at one of the world's most expensive clubs in Monte Carlo; where the European jet-set bathe in buckets of Cristal champagne and mingle with the fashion hierarchy. Rapidly becoming the chief spokesman for Italian disco, it is evident to see why the pundits say his music reflects all that is fresh and vibrant about house music right now, whilst injecting a savvy and twisted elegance into the aesthetics of being a superstar dj.
Well known for his commercial success, topping video and music charts across Europe, the demand for his studio expertises on a remix have grown at a meteoric rate with recent projects including Robbie Rivera 'Aye, Aye', Aye', Gadjo's 'It's Alright', not to mention one of the hottest record labels on the planet, Atlantic, hand picking him to remix The Feeling's 'Turn it Up'. However, it's his latest output from the remix draw that really demonstrates his impressive ability to hop genres as a producer. Called upon by the 'Godfather of Grime' himself, Wiley, to mix his chart busting 'Summertime', Alex provided the official club cut for the track .
2008 was an incredible year for house music's new premiere DJ talent. His single 'Watch Out' not only smashed into the top 20 in the UK but took up permanent residency on playlists across Europe, becoming one of the most played songs on stations such as Radio 1 and Kiss FM and being touted as the biggest crossover house record of the summer from everyone from DJ Magazine to Maxim. This was followed by 'I'm a DJ' which was massive in club charts worldwide and, in 2009, by 'I love rock'n'roll', which gives the Joan Jett classic the Alex Gaudino electrohouse treatment. 'I love rock'n'roll' did very well in most places but was gigantic in France where it was released on Bob Sinclar's label, Yellow. It got huge mainstream airplay and left its mark in all the charts, soon followed by his new album 'My Destination' set for release worldwide.
Alex's recent releases include a reworking of 'Money's Too Tight to Mention' with original vocals by Simply Red, out worldwide, a collaboration with Russia's most famous dj producer, DJ Smash, an anthemic track called 'Moscow Never Sleeps' and an irresistible house track with a pop-reggae feel featuring Steve Edwards, 'Take Me Down'.
Recent remixes include the Armin van Buuren track 'Never say never' ,voted the best new track on Armin's radio show, 'Peace Song' by Bob Sinclar and 'Escape me' by Tiesto, supported strongly by Tiesto himself.
Alex is always busy touring the world over. He played at Set and Nikki Beach in Miami during the WInter Music Conference then on to Canada, followed by Vanguard in Los Angeles and Mansion in Miami.
The summer saw him mainly in Europe with a quick hop to Brazil in July for a festival. He also debuted in Shanghai and Seoul with an unbelievable response.
Alex Gaudinoís ëIím In Love (I Wanna Do It)í looks set to be a hit. Still to be officially released, itís getting massive airplay worldwide. In UK, itís been played by Pete Tong, Judge Jules and Dave Pearce, is Scott Millís ìRecord of the Weekî and currently on rotation on BBC Radio One and Kiss FM. Itís stormed up the club charts and the Shazam pre-release chart, The female vocals on the track are performed by Maxine, a bright new star from New York, who also features in the video together with Alex himself and his studio partner, Jason Rooney. One of the most frequently aired videos in the UK, it goes from strength to strength worldwide. The Italian superstar is the master of the dance anthem - his previous hits include ëDestination Calabriaí (No.4) and ëWatch Outí. As one of the most in demand DJ/producers on the scene, Alex rubs shoulders with the European jet-set (he recently played in Monte Carlo in a club where the crowd bathe in buckets of champagne). Known as the chief spokesman for Italian disco house, Gaudino represents all that is fresh and vibrant about house music right now, whilst injecting a savvy and twisted elegance into the aesthetics of being a superstar DJ.Well known for his commercial success, topping video and music charts across Europe, the demand for his studio expertise has grown at a meteoric rate. His recent remixes read like a roll call of dance musicís biggest players, including Armin van Buurenís Never Say Neverí, ëPeace Songí by Bob Sinclar, ëEscape Meí by Tiesto and ìSpaceshipî by Benny Benassi.Currently tearing up dancefloors across Ibiza and the Mediterranean, ëIím In Love (I Wanna Do It)í, looks set to return him to the top of the charts in September, maintaining his reputation for striking dancefloor gold, and proving that Italians truly do it better.
